About

Nadine Majdalani Begdache transformed the cultural center founded by her mother in the 1960’s
(Dar Al Fan) into an art gallery and named it after her mother ‘Galerie Janine Rubeiz’ in 1992.
The gallery has been playing a crucial role in encouraging Lebanese modern and contemporary art and aiding it in penetrating the global art scene.

Over the year, Galerie Janine Rubeiz has expanded its activities and presence through participating in prestigious fairs (Europ’ Art – Geneva, Art Paris – Paris, Star’t Art – Strasbourg, Art Paris – Abu Dhabi – Art Dubai Dubai – Abu Dhabi Art – Abu Dhabi) and curator art events 40 ans d’Art Contemporain Libanais – Geneva, Visages Francophones – Cahors, France, Women by Women, Lebanese American University – Beirut, Artists View II – London, Pinceaux pour Plumes, Sursock Museum – Beirut) . The gallery also ensured to invest efforts in promoting the cultural heritage of Lebanon, in 2016 the gallery organized an exhibition titled “Bitasarof” that aimed at collecting proceeds from the works sold by artists commissioned for the national library to fund it.

Artists of the Gallery such as Shafic Abboud, Etel Adnan, Zad Moultaka ,Huguette Caland have all gained undeniable support from the French Cultural Scene and have become influential artists on the global art Platform . In 2017, Zad Moultaka , represented the Lebanese Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and gained Global Praise from the project he conceived .Over the years, the gallery has also emphasized the importance of exposing international artists to the Lebanese Public, by exhibiting artists such as Antonio Segui, Jean Giraud Moebus and several others at gallery.

Despite the Political instability Lebanon Faces, the gallery is keen on achieving its mission through continuing on discovering and promoting emerging artists. The gallery is proud to have maintained impressionable ties with France’s diplomatic representatives in Lebanon through the years and hopes for prosperous dialogues for the art culture in Lebanon.
